Madrid - Spain said yesterday that jail terms given to four Cuban dissidents marked a step backwards for human rights and warned it could affect plans for a visit by the king and queen to the island.

On Monday, Cuba announced jail sentences ranging from 31/2 to five years for the country's four best-known dissidents, convicted of inciting sedition.
