The Catholic Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin will take part in a public interview at 7.30pm on Thursday in St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, where he will be questioned on the role resilience has played in his life.

The interview is a fundraising event in aid of Aware, the agency which helps people suffering from depression.

The archbishop will be interviewed by Patsy McGarry, The Irish Times religious affairs correspondent, at the event, which is supported by the Sunday Times and Veritas.

Tickets for the evening are available at aware.ie, priced at €25 each.

Funding

In 2015, 85 per cent of Aware’s funding came from fundraising events and public and corporate donations.

This money enabled Aware to provide a range of services for individuals and families impacted by depression or bipolar disorder.

Aware also provides a range of mental health education programmes for adults, secondary school students and employees in workplaces nationwide.

The organisation delivers free secondary schools programmes to thousands of senior-cycle students each year, including a 70-minute class talk and a six-session programme on life skills.

Prior to Thursday evening’s event at St Patrick’s Cathedral, light refreshments will be available from 7pm.
