French ambassador Jean-Pierre Thébault will attend a gathering of Irish media and members of the public in Dublin on Saturday in remembrance of those killed in the attack on the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

The ceremony, organised by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), will include a minute’s silence, a reading of the names of the deceased - 10 staff members and two police officers - and a brief address from Mr Thébault.

It will take place from 11am at the Dubh Linn Garden in Dublin Castle, with those attending requested to arrive by 10.30am.

NUJ Irish secretary Seamus Dooley said the location was fitting given its memorials to murdered Irish journalist Veronica Guerin and An Garda Síochána.
