From Charlie Chaplin to the Irish redhead convention and Sugarbeat

The Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival takes place in Waterville Co Kerry from Friday until Sunday. The short comedy film festival is dedicated to the memory of Charlie Chaplin, with comedy, film, music, street entertainment, workshops and nightly entertainment. Visitors can expect a famous Charlie Chaplin impressionist, vintage cars, comedy films, animation and comedy workshops for all ages. The dress theme throughout the weekend is 'Charlie Chaplin lookalikes' or 1920s style.

The Irish redhead convention takes places in Crosshaven Co Cork from Friday until Sunday. This is the sixth year of the convention which was set up by redheaded siblings Joleen and Denis Cronin. It is also a fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society with 20 per cent of ticket fees, as well as the proceeds from other fundraising activities being donated to the national charity for cancer care, research and support in Ireland. Highlights include the Foxygen music stage, reserved for gingers only and seminar by Jackie Collis Harvey, author of "RED: a complete history of the natural redhead."

The Women's Sevens Rugby competition takes place at University College Dublin's Bowl stadium which has a capacity of up to 3,000 supporters on Saturday and Sunday. The teams, who include Olympic qualified Brazil and Colombia, will battle for the two remaining places on the 2015-16 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. The Irish team will play South Africa, Hong Kong and Mexico in Pool C with Brazil, Samoa, Japan and more also competing in the competition. Adult tickets are from €5 and admission for children is free.

Fingal Vintage Harvest Festival takes places at Skerries Mills on Sunday as part of National Heritage Week. The festival will feature scarecrow building, a soap box derby, fancy dress, vintage car display, food and craft stalls, along with demonstrations of harvesting. Visitors are encouraged to wear 1950s clothing and explore the surrounds of Skerries Mills, which has two windmills, one watermill and wetlands. Tickets for adults cost €8 and admission for children is free.

The Sean Kelly Tour of Waterford takes place in Dungarvan until Sunday and is Ireland's premier leisure cycling event. Now in its 9th year, it offers something for everyone with 12km, 50km, 100km and 160km routes. There are four different routes to be completed this year. On Saturday, the 12km Kelly Spin takes places while on Sunday the 50km Kelly Cruise, the 100km Kelly Heritage Route and the 160km Kelly Comeragh challenges will take place. Entry for the events has closed as it is limited to 5,000 participants.

The Sugarbeat music festival takes place in Tuam stadium in Co Galway on Saturday and Sunday. The line up on Saturday features The Stunning, Ryan Sheridan and the Amazing Apples while Sunday features Hometown, the Original Rudeboys and Big Generator. Saturday tickets cost €30 and Sunday tickets cost €30 and are available on tickets.ie. There will be a shuttle bus from Galway city to Tuam, which will depart from Monroe's Tavern at 12pm and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday, returning to the city 20 minutes after the final act each night.
