Sky News Ireland has announced it is to drop its two nightly news bulletins in a curtailment of its Irish news operation.
Staff will be reduced from 25 to four in its Dublin office and from five to one in Belfast. From November 30th, Irish news will be integrated into its main news channel.
Commenting on the deicion, head of Sky News John Ryley said the decision had been a difficult one.
"The decision to change direction is a difficult one but our commitment to choice and innovation means that we will always take risks and try new ideas.
"Irish stories remain an integral part of the main channel as well as new media outlets as Sky News refocuses its resources in a way that continues to meet the needs of consumers in the broadband age," he said.
