Wales v Scotland:Wales coach Warren Gatland made two changes for the opening game of the weekend against Scotland on Saturday.

Cardiff Blues wing Leigh Halfpenny returns to the side instead of his Blues colleague Tom James, while Ospreys forward Jonathan Thomas replaces lock Luke Charteris.

Phil Godman has paid the price for Scotland’s opening defeat to France as Dan Parks was recalled at outhalf in one of three initial changes from Sunday’s 18-9 loss at Murrayfield.

Prop Euan Murray and back-three man Rory Lamont are also back in the side. The latter’s brother Sean has moved to outside centre in place of Max Evans.

Later in the week, Edinburgh’s Jim Hamilton was called in to replace lock Nathan Hines who suffered a calf strain.

France v Ireland:Marc Lievremont has two changes on the wings ahead of Ireland's visit to Paris, calling on Vincent Clerc to replace Benjamin Fall on the right and Alexis Palisson to cover for the injured Aurelien Rougerie.

Declan Kidney also made two changes in bringing back flanker Stephen Ferris to the blindside and opting for Keith Earls ahead of Andrew Trimble. Both Kevin McLoughlin and Trimble drop out of the squad altogether.

Italy v England:Leicester tighthead prop Dan Cole will make his full England debut in Sunday's clash with Italy in Rome, while the hosts are without lock Carlo Antonio Del Fava for the remainder of the championship.

Cole has been promoted into the starting XV to replace the injured David Wilson, while Riki Flutey has been restored at inside centre ahead of Toby Flood after recovering from a dead leg.

Italy coach Nick Mallett has made two changes to his starting line-up.

Kaine Robertson drops to the bench with Andrea Masi taking his place at number 14, while Gloucester lock Marco Bortolami replaces Carlo Antonio Del Fava from the starting XV that lost 29-11 in Ireland last weekend.
