Six men have been arrested and a man has been taken to hospital following a row outside a church in Co Mayo.
The incident occurred in Claremorris at about 10.30am today among a group who are understood to have been attending a funeral.
A Garda spokesman said that a man was seriously assaulted during the incident.
He has been taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar for treatment.
Six men were arrested in connection with the assault.
They are being detained at Claremorris Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
An investigation into the incident is continuing.
