Washington - Six high school students were wounded by gunshots in the latest school shooting just one month after the Littleton killings where 12 students and a teacher died, writes Joe Carroll.
The latest school shooting took place at Heritage high school at Conyers, Georgia, as President Clinton was preparing to fly to meet survivors of the Littleton shooting and parents. He said that the Conyers shootings were "deeply troubling to me as it is to all Americans". Shortly afterwards the Senate passed a law on stricter gun controls with the help of the casting vote of the Vice-President, Mr Al Gore.
In Conyers, police said that a teenage youth was in custody following the shooting. None of the injuries to the six students were life-threatening.
