Halifax, Nova Scotia - Six people were dead and Canadian rescue crews were searching yesterday for 11 still missing after a cargo ship with 31 crew members aboard sank on Thursday south-east of Nova Scotia.
The 236-metre Panamanian-registered cargo ship Leader L, heading to New York from Spain with a load of salt, sank about 920km south-east of Nova Scotia, when a 15-metre steel plate broke off the hull under the water, authorities said.
