A man was shot and wounded at the Notting Hill Carnival yesterday, marring an otherwise peaceful first day of the annual London festival. The shooting happened in the Portobello Green area at around 5 p.m.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said the man suffered stomach injuries that were "not serious" after he was fired on by an unidentified weapon. A hospital spokesman described him as stable pending surgery.
