Brazzaville - Fighting broke out in the southern suburbs of the Congo Republic capital, Brazzaville, yesterday, sending residents fleeing for safety there and in the centre of the city.
The government of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who has sent his army against opposition militia operating in the Pool region south and west of the capital, blamed "bandits".
