Johannesburg - A shark killed a South African teenager surfing at the east coast holiday resort town of Knysna yesterday, police said.
Hercules Pretorius (14) was about 50 metres from shore surfing with his friend Zaack Mells when he was attacked, Capt Michelle Lesch said.
"The friend saw the shark come out of the water, take a bite out of Hercules and disappear into the sea again," Capt Lesch said. Mells pulled Hercules to the shore, but he died before he could receive medical attention.
