Emergency services will today resume the search on the River Shannon in Co Limerick for a missing local man.

After the man's car was found abandoned on Kilteery Pier, between Glin and Foynes, on Thursday night a search got under way for the 34-year-old farmer and father of four.

The Kilrush lifeboat carried out a two-hours search yesterday evening in the area assisted by the Coast Guard's helicopter and the Ballybunnion Rescue Service.

The search was called off at dusk and will be resumed at 1.30 p.m. today.
