A glance at the week that was
Game of frantic action
It had been 85 years since Tipperary had beaten Cork by the Lee, but last weekend's Munster hurling championship win added colour to an already sun-drenched weekend. Having gone eight points down in the first half, a brilliant Eoin Kelly goal propelled them towards a famous victory. Adding to the occasion was the sight of hundreds of fans stretched out on the pitch behind the goal due to congestion problems. It gave Páirc Uí Chaoimh the look of a particularly busy school sports day.
Game of distraction
Sixty-six days into a drug conspiracy trial that had cost more than €500,000, an Australian judge was forced to discharge the jury after it was revealed that several jurors had spent much of the time playing sudoku.
"Some of the evidence is rather drawn out and I find it difficult to maintain my attention the whole time, and it doesn't distract me too much from proceedings," said the jury foreperson.
The judge, who had previously commended the jury for their attentiveness, abandonded the trial.
