The remains of 10 murder victims found on New York’s Long Island are the work of a serial killer, police believe.
Police commissioner Richard Dormer said the fact that all may be linked to the sex trade backs the single-killer theory.
The remains were found strewn along a remote beach parkway and elsewhere.
Police have identified only five of the 10 victims. They were women working as escorts.
The investigation began as a hunt for missing New Jersey prostitute Shannan Gilbert, last seen a year ago. She has not been found. Mr Dormer said he does not think her case is connected.
