A MAN who admitted the manslaughter of two women, whose decomposed bodies were found during a Garda dig in west Dublin, had his sentence further adjourned yesterday.

Michael Bambrick (43) pleaded guilty before the Central Criminal Court last May to the manslaughter of Ms Patricia McGauley and Ms Mary Cummins.

Sentence was adjourned to June 14th and then further adjourned until yesterday, when Mr Patrick Gageby SC, defending, asked for a further adjournment.

He said the defence medical adviser had been ill and his report was not yet available.

Mr Justice Carney said he had taken a half day out of a long running trial to facilitate the sentencing. However, he agreed to adjourn the matter until July 17th.

Bambrick was in court for yesterday's hearing.

At a Central Criminal Court hearing on May 3rd he admitted the manslaughter of Ms McGauley, mother of two children, in Dublin on a date unknown between September 1st, 1991, and February 28th, 1992.

He also admitted the manslaughter of Ms Cummins, a mother of one, in Dublin on a date unknown between July 1st, 1992, and December 31st, 1993.

Ms McGauley disappeared from her home in St Ronan's Park, Clondalkin, in September 1991. Her two children, Adrienne (13) and Louise (6), are living with relatives.

In June 1995 human remains believed to be those of Ms McGauley were discovered during a planned Garda dig in Ronanstown.

Ms Cummins (36), from the Liberties, was last seen alive on July 23rd, 1992. Earlier that day she had shopped in Meath Street, Dublin, with her daughter Samantha, then aged seven.

She was to go out that evening with another person and her daughter was collected by friends.

A body believed to be that of Ms Cummins was found in Balgaddy in June 1995 during a Garda dig of the area.
