The Irish Senior Citizens' National Parliament is to receive £280,000 over the next three years, in a package jointly funded by the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs and the Department of Health and Children. The announcement almost doubles funding for the parliament, which was founded in 1966 and lobbies Government on policy matters affecting the elderly, as well as co-ordinating the work of organisations providing services to older people.
