A man missing on the north Antrim coast is a leading Belfast academic, it emerged today.

A man missing on the north Antrim coast is a leading Belfast academic, it emerged today.

Professor Stephen Livingstone (43), who once headed the School of Law at Queen's University, Belfast, has not been seen for two days.

A major land-and-sea search operation for the human-rights expert was today centred on the shoreline near Ballycastle.

Mr Livingstone drove from his home in east Belfast and parked his car at Dunseverick Castle on Saturday.
