The search of the Barrow in Co Carlow is expected to resume today for a man who got into difficulties after going swimming on Monday.

Yesterday the Garda sub-aqua team joined the Civil Defence and fire brigade searching the area, known locally as Lanigan's Lock, where the man, in his early forties, went missing.

He had been fishing in the area before deciding to go for a swim shortly before 5 p.m. The alarm was raised by friends when he got into difficulties.
