Detectives hunting the gang behind the £22 million (€31.49 million) Northern Bank robbery yesterday carried out a search of the home of one of the hostages.
The two families held captive by the raiders have spent Christmas away from their homes as they remain police crime scenes.
A PSNI spokeswoman said last night that detectives returned to the family home of Mr Chris Ward in Poleglass, Co Antrim. "A house at Colin Mill is still being held as a crime scene. A forensic examination has already been carried out and a police search was carried out today. There have been no arrests," the spokeswoman said.
Mr Ward was at home with his parents, his brother and his brother's girlfriend the Sunday before last when they were held at gunpoint. He was then taken to the home of a senior bank colleague, Mr Kevin McMullan, in Loughinisland, near Ballynahinch, Co Down. The Ward family was held at gunpoint for 24 hours.
On Christmas Eve, police removed several items from the house for forensic examination. Mr Ward has been staying with relatives since last week's robbery and has been unable to gain access to any of his personal possessions.
The McMullans have also spent Christmas out of their home. Two men posing as PSNI officers had called to the McMullan home that Sunday night, on the pretext of informing them that a relative had been involved in a road accident. Once in the house the pair held the family at gunpoint.
Police said last week that following Mr Ward's arrival the gunmen interviewed the officials separately about the bank's procedures. The men were ordered to go to work at mid-day at the bank's cash centre and were told their families would be harmed if they did not co-operate.
Police are still hunting for a handgun and ammunition stolen from a police Land Rover on Christmas Eve during searches of republican homes. They were stolen from the vehicle in Cavendish Street off the Falls Road in west Belfast.
At the weekend, police issued serial numbers for new Northern Bank £10 notes stolen in the raid. The police urged other banking institutions, retailers and the public to look out for the notes.
The serial numbers are: BC 8500001, BC 8550000, BC 9100001, BC 9150000, BC 9350001 and BC 9400000.
