Jordan’s Takuma Sato is confident his horror smash in Austria will not effect his performance when he takes to Monte Carlo's mean streets next week.

The 25-year-old Formula One rookie escaped with only minor bruising after his Jordan-Honda was hit by Nick Heidfeld's Sauber on the A1-Ring last Sunday.

Sato's nerves will be put to the test when he makes his debut in the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday week when drivers "kiss" the barriers on the tight street circuit in search of the perfect lap but knowing the slightest misjudgement would wreck their race.

But Sato said: "I have put the Austrian accident behind me now and it will not affect my performance in Monaco at all.

"It has already been a few days since the big impact at the A1-ring and the pain has been going gradually from my knee and leg so I am glad to be able to come back and race".
