Sainsbury dispute may go to Lords

The planning dispute over a new Sainsbury superstore in Coleraine could go to the House of Lords

The planning dispute over a new Sainsbury superstore in Coleraine could go to the House of Lords. A Department of the Environment spokesman said an application for leave to appeal to the Law Lords in London will be made to the Northern Ireland Appeal Court.

Earlier this month the court dismissed an appeal by the department against a ruling that planning permission was granted unlawfully. Sainsbury had spent more than £8 million on the site before planning permission was quashed. The judicial review was brought by rival stores Wellworths and Boots.
