GARDAI investigating the death of a Russian student whose body was found in a Dublin house on Saturday are close to ruling out foul play.
The student was named by gardai as Mr Euegeney Roussin (17). His body was found in the house on Merrion Avenue, Blackrock, and his death was initially regarded as "suspicious". There were marks on his body which suggested foul play.
However, the initial stages of a post mortem carried out yesterday by the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, indicated the marks resulted from old injuries. Toxicology tests are being carried out, but after examining the scene, investigating officers believe the young man may have died from alcohol poisoning.
A relative travelling from Russia was due in Dublin last night to formally identify the body and take charge of funeral arrangements.
