An RUC sergeant who runs a neighbourhood policing unit in the Laganside area of Belfast has won an award for community policing.
Sgt Stephen Jones (41), came top of a list of candidates from 39 other forces in the UK to win the Community Police Officer of the Year award.
The Northern Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam, said: "This clearly shows how the RUC can provide community policing in partnership with people in all areas of Northern Ireland."
