Dublin-based animation company Monster has signed a major deal with A+B Productions to produce the new series of the classic cult cartoon series Roobarb and Custard.

The series will consist of 39 episodes and has been written by original creator and writer Grange Calveley. A deal has also been signed with Richard Briers, who narrated the original series in 1974, to voice the new series.

The series will go into pre-production immediately and will be produced at Monster's studio in Dublin.

It will be distributed by Celador International of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?fame.
