Geneva - Brazilian striker Ronaldo was sworn in yesterday as a United Nations goodwill ambassador for the fight against poverty, at a ceremony attended by more than 1,000 children.

Ronaldo, who is not expected to return to action for Inter Milan until April at the earliest following knee surgery last November, pledged to use his available free time for his new role on behalf of the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
