Ronaldo claims best display in Real shirt

Ronaldo has described his hat-trick display against Manchester United at Old Trafford as the best of his Real Madrid career.

Ronaldo has described his hat-trick display against Manchester United at Old Trafford as the best of his Real Madrid career.

Goals in the 12th, 50th and 59th minutes were not enough for Real to win on the night in the Champions League quarter-final encounter but they still advanced 6-5 on aggregate and will now meet Juventus in the semi-finals.

"It was my best game in a Real Madrid shirt," said Ronaldo. "The three goals were very important and that's what counts. That it was me who scored them, or any one else, doesn't matter".

He told the leading daily El Pais: "I owe the goals to them, my team-mates. Without the work of the team it would have been impossible".

Ronaldo's display earned him an ovation from United supporters as he was substituted in the 70th minute.

"It was unforgettable. I will never forget it. It only happened once before when I was with Inter Milan at Brescia's stadium. That day I scored a very nice goal and the people cheered me," said Ronaldo.
