As far removed from his punk rock beginnings as you can imagine, Mick Hucknall (right) has been the blue-eyed, but not necessarily pretty boy of AOR soul music for the past decade, cleverly blending originals with an array of cover versions that easily reach the upper limits of the pop charts. Simply Red started off as a band proper but is now Mick Hucknall and various backing musicians, which is perhaps indicative of his leadership skills. The recent album, Love And The Russian Winter firmly consolidated Simply Red's chart success which means what you're going to get in a live setting is the hits. They play The Point next Friday.
