London - A robot called Rogerr is bidding to become the first robot in the world to race in a half-marathon.

The robot has been entered in a 21 km race later this month by students and professors of cybernetics at Reading University. Rogerr, named after the first sub-four-minute miler, Roger Bannister, is not expected to win because it is a heat-seeking robot which must follow rather than lead.
