DUP leader Peter Robinson will meet British Prime Minister Gordon Brown today for talks in London about the collapsed Presbyterian Mutual Society.

Some 9,500 savers were hit by the failure of the PMS in Northern Ireland, which was put into administration last November.

Mr Robinson is expected to urge Gordon Brown to compensate those affected during their Downing Street meeting.

In March the British leader promised savers protection when any UK financial institution gets into trouble.

But more than seven months after the PMS collapsed, none of its savers have been given back a penny. The government has insisted they were not savers, but investors with shares in the society.

Stormont deputy first minister Martin McGuinness has also urged action to help PMS members. Last week he met Mr Brown about devolution of policing and justice powers to the Northern Ireland Assembly.
