Retired freelance photographer dies

The photographer Kevin McMahon has died

The photographer Kevin McMahon has died. Born in Dublin in 1923, he first worked as a commercial photographer in Dublin in the pre-second World War years.

He went to the United States during the war and worked as a photographer, chef and seaman. In the 1950s he returned to Ireland, working mainly for The Irish Times as a freelance photographer. He retired in 1991 and is survived by his wife Mona, sons Peter, David and Kevin and daughter Anita. His funeral took place yesterday after Mass in the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Sandymount.
