Resignation of DUP councillor

A Cookstown DUP councillor has resigned from the party

A Cookstown DUP councillor has resigned from the party. Mr Billy Larmour's resignation means the DUP now has only one representative on Cookstown District Council, Ms Anne McCrea, wife of the newly-elected Assemblyman for Mid Ulster, the Rev William McCrea.

A member of the council since 1993, Mr Larmour has given the reason for his resigning as personal. He said yesterday he still supported the DUP leadership but in future would be standing as an independent.
