Members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue and the Doolin Lifeboat have gone to Carrantoohil amid concerns that a person may have got into difficulty trying to climb the cliff face.

The Shannon-based rescue helicopter has also been sent to foot of the Co Kerry Mountain. Valentia coastguard which is co-ordinating the operation said a hill-walker had reported that a single climber appeared to be in difficulty while on the cliff face.
