A Scotsman, Mr John McDonald (51), of Ardoch Gardens, Cambuslang, Glasgow, was further remanded in custody, with consent to bail, when he appeared before Judge Uinsin Mac Gruairc in the Cork District Court yesterday charged with the attempted abduction of a child.
Mr McDonald has been charged under Section 17 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997. There was consent to bail of £100 with an independent cash lodgement of £15,000. A condition of the bail is that he surrender his passport and sign on at Anglesea Street Garda station in the city each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Mr McDonald was arrested following the alleged attempted abduction of a young girl in Dungarvan, Co Waterford on Saturday. He appeared before a special sitting of Dungarvan Court and was remanded to Cork District Court.
