Spanish hit man Raul has lost his battle for fitness and has been omitted from the team to play South Korea in the World Cup quarter-final today.

Raul, injured in the penalty shoot out victory over the Republic of Ireland in the second round, has been doubtful all week.

The absence of the Real Madrid striker, who has scored three goals in the tournament, leaves Fernando Morientes as Spain's sole true striker.

Wing back Juanfran, given a roasting by Damien Duff in the clash with Ireland, has been replaced by Romero. Barcelona star Luis Enrique has given way to Joaquin of Betis.

Korea stick with the same team that beat Portugal 1-0 in their final group game and Italy 2-1 in a sensational second round clash.
