Dundalk Urban District Council has approved a contravention of the town development plan to allow for a multimillion-pound development at Dundalk racecourse. Estimated to be worth at least £15 million, the development would see a realignment of the racecourse and a new greyhound track as well as a 70-bedroom hotel, a conference and leisure centre, 90 apartments and 135 houses.

On Tuesday the UDC approved the development unanimously, subject to 135 conditions.
