The foot-and-mouth outbreak dominated the meeting of the British-Irish Inter-Parliamentary Body in Killarney at the beginning of the week. There was much discussion on the lack of controls many of the British delegates experienced as they entered the Republic, the cancellation of sporting events and on the horror of the last outbreak in Britain. The British ambassador, Sir Ivor Roberts, was disappointed he wouldn't be in his native Wales today for the rugby match. One journalist asked the main speaker, John O'Donoghue, if he thought the Fine Gael Ardfheis should be cancelled. That prompted another question, said the Minister for Justice, should Fine Gael be cancelled?
