Pupil held after fatal stabbing in UK school

A 14-year-old British schoolboy died today after he was stabbed during a fight at a secondary school.

A 14-year-old British schoolboy died today after he was stabbed during a fight at a secondary school.

The boy, who has not been named, was stabbed at Birkbeck School, in North Somercotes, Lincolnshire, during an "altercation" at around 10 a.m. police said.

He was rushed to Grimsby Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Skegness Police Station for questioning. A knife was recovered from the scene, police said.

The school was closed after the incident and its 276 pupils were sent home. The school is expected to remain closed throughout tomorrow, police said.

Detectives are now awaiting the results of a post mortem on the boy's body, due to be carried out this evening at Grimsby Hospital.

Police confirmed they were treating the boy's death as suspicious.
