Police in Derry are appealing for witness following unrest in the city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Police in Derry are appealing for witness following unrest in the city centre in the early hours of this morning.

A PSNI spokeswoman said a crowd of up to 25 people were involved in a disturbance on the Glendermot Road shortly after 2.15am.

When the PSNI arrived at the scene two groups were throwing stones and other missiles at each other.

One man was taken to hospital with head injuries but he is understood to be in a stable condition.

Another man was arrested for public order offences.
