Irish oil and natural-gas explorer Providence Resources said it expects net production to rise by an estimated 900 barrels of oil equivalent per day by halfway through the third quarter of 2009.

Hurricanes Gustav and Ike last September delayed production in the Gulf of Mexico with a cumulative impact from lost or deferred production of approximately 500 barrels of oil equivalent per day, the company said.

Providence has installed its new Galveston A-155 production platform and plans to connect it to a production line next month.
