Protest in Dublin over Middle East conflict

Around 1,000 people protested in central Dublin today over the continuing escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

Around 1,000 people protested in central Dublin today over the continuing escalation of the situation in the Middle East.

An estimated 462 people have been killed in Lebanon and another 51 have died in Israel during the past 18 days of conflict.

The Hands Off Lebanon and Freedom For Palestine protest began this afternoon outside the Garden of Remembrance.

It  was organised by the Irish Anti-War Movement, Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the Lebanese Community in Ireland.

The National Executive Council of SIPTU had urged its members to support the event.

"Direct targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure and launching indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks amounts to war crimes," added Sean Love, of Amnesty International Ireland.
