A protest by ten inmates at St Patrick's Institution ended peacefully this morning, the prison service has confirmed.

A protest by ten inmates at St Patrick's Institution ended peacefully this morning, the prison service has confirmed.

The prisoners had climbed on to wire mesh covering an open-air yard yesterday evening.

Alcohol is understood to have been thrown over the wall to the protesters during the night.

The ten men, who climbed down this morning, will be brought before the Governor later for breach of prison discipline rules.
