A Dublin girl who murdered chip shop owner Mr Franco Sacco appeared in court yesterday before being released on probation for another year.

The girl, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, was sentenced to seven years' detention by Mr Justice Carney last June 19th last after she pleaded guilty to the murder of Mr Sacco (29) at the house she lived in with him and his wife, Ms Anna Maria Sacco, at Coolamber Park, Templeogue, on March 20th, 1997.

But on July 13th, the Court of Criminal Appeal suspended her sentence, noting the State provided no place of detention for young women of her age.

Yesterday, the judge adjourned the case for 12 months and released the girl on probation until the next formal review of her probation on November 19th, 1999.
