The Magistrate's Court in Magherafelt, Co Derry, was told by a defence lawyer yesterday that a priest caught travelling at 96 m.p.h. on the Glenshane Pass was "embarrassed" by his breach of the traffic regulations.

Father Roland Colhoun (31), from Aileach Road, Derry, was fined £100 when he admitted the speeding charge. The defendant, who did not appear in court, was stated to have told police that he was on his way to Dublin at the time.
