A postmortem on the body of an architect who died five days after he alleged he was struck on the head during an altercation in Drogheda has proved inconclusive.

State Pathologist Marie Cassidy yesterday carried out the postmortem on the remains of the man, named locally as Deepak Abbi (53). Mr Abbi called gardaí on Thursday to say he had been involved in a row with youths, one of whom he alleged struck him on the head. It is understood Mr Abbi did not make a formal complaint.

Gardaí have appealed for information on the row at about 2.30pm last Thursday at the junction of Bessexwell Lane and Shop Street, near the victim’s offices. Contact Drogheda gardaí on 041-9874200 or the Garda confidential line on 1800-666111.
