A post-mortem will be carried out today on the body a new-born baby found in Limerick city yesterday

A post-mortem will be carried out today on the body a new-born baby found in Limerick city yesterday. The body was found at 5.30 p.m. in a plastic bag in a green area opposite East Singland Crescent, in the Garryowen area, and taken to the Mid-West Regional Hospital.

The mother of the baby may be in need of medical attention and gardai are appealing to her to come forward. They assure her she will be treated in confidence and with sensitivity.
