The Deputy State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy will conduct a post-mortem today on the body of a man found in the river Slaney south of Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, last night.

Slaney River Search and Rescue and the Garda Underwater Unit found the body at 7.30 p.m. after almost two days of searching for a man presumed drowned.

The victim has not been identified, but gardaí believe him to be Mr Jonathan Skerritt (20) from Ballymurn who fell into the river at 12.30 a.m on Tuesday.

The body was taken to Wexford General Hospital where the post-mortem will be held.
