A gun was seized by police during an attempted robbery of a security van in Co Down yesterday.
A number of shots were fired by police officers but there were no injuries.
Two men arrested at the scene were last night being questioned. Meanwhile a masked robber stole a sum of cash from a service station in Co Derry.
The man, armed with a baton, entered the station at Garvagh and demanded cash from the staff.
