ENSCHEDE Dutch police summoned to detonate a suspect bomb fixed to the underside of a car managed instead to make safe a tracking device placed there by fellow officers.

The 32 year old owner of the car contacted police after spotting a device under his vehicle. They in turn summoned the bomb squad which "disarmed" what turned out to be a tracking device placed there by drugs squad detectives. The car owner was subsequently arrested as the chief suspect in a crime ring which is believed to have been involved in drug trafficking.
