Police hunt escaped convict

Marseilles - Five hundred police were yesterday hunting for a convict who escaped from prison by helicopter, in a breakout that left one gangster shot dead and three in hospital with gunshot wounds. The helicopter landed inside the Les Baumettes prison in the port city on Saturday after dropping a bag of weapons to waiting inmates. It lifted off again amid an exchange of gunfire with prison guards. Three of those on the run were later recaptured.
